The Résidence Universitaire Lantéri was founded in 1960 by Father Secondo Richiardone OMV, an Italian-born Catholic priest and member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. For almost thirty years, he was the company’s general manager. He built the student residence (1961) and the Sainte Rita chapel (1992). He died prematurely in 1995.
Father Richiardone wanted to create a student center in the Paris suburbs open to all nationalities. This is the reason for diversity in origins and cultures, languages and religions, history and experience. The RUL international student residence aims to build unity through respect for one another. Respect is the first rule at the Résidence Universitaire Lanteri (RUL). Such an environment is beneficial in helping students prepare for a future based on proven values such as mutual support and conviviality, the ability to take on challenges and assume responsibility.
The seriousness of any commitment and the possibility of better structuring oneself, both in terms of personality and transcendent being. The strategic location of the Résidence Universitaire Lanteri puts students, interns and young workers in the heart of Paris in just 20 minutes.
The international dimension of the Lanteri University Residence is of great symbolic importance to the Oblates of the Virgin Mary who run it , since their charism is international in scope. Depending on the year, the Résidence Universitaire Lanteri (RUL) welcomes more than a dozen different nationalities: French, Italian, Canadian, American, English, Czech, Reunionese, Mauritian, German….
Father Richiardone also wanted to build a chapel dedicated to Saint Rita to welcome believers who would come here for a spiritual break. He wanted to implant the charism of the founder of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (OMV), Father Pio Bruno Lantéri: formation of the Christian laity, awakening and deepening of the faith, adherence to the person of Christ through “spiritual exercises” given in the form of periodic retreats or accompaniments. He also wanted everyone to be able to find a community of religious and priests available for confessions and spiritual encounters, with a view to the full development of the human person. A man of intuition and projects, his dream has happily come true.
